LINDEN – Western Boone improved to 6-0 in Sagamore Conference play after defeated North Montgomery, 56-39 on Friday.
Western Boone held North Montgomery scoreless in the third quarter and scored 18 points on the Chargers to take a lead and extend the deficit to 14 points heading into the fourth quarter.
“That was huge,” Western Boone coach Brian Hole said. “Our defensive intensity picked up. We just played solid on both ends.”
Hole said Western Boone put a man-to-man defense on the Chargers during the third to contribute to their scoreless quarter. North Montgomery went 0-for-7 in the third and had nine turnovers.
Senior Brandy Woody had a near triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.
“She does a lot of things in the game,” Hole said of Woody. “She gets the ball to a lot of girls.”
Sarah Brewer scored 11 points for Western Boone on Friday.
Western Boone will travel to Rossville on Tuesday. On Friday, the Stars could possibly be playing for the SAC title when they travel to Crawfordsville.
Crawfordsville is 5-0 in conference play and will travel to Tri-West on Tuesday. If they beat the Bruins, Crawfordsville will be tied at 6-0 with Western Boone.
Tip-ff for the Western Boone-Crawfordsville game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
